COURT REMOVES HRH EZE ( PROF.) UCHEAGA AS THE TRADITIONAL RULER OF LAGURU AUTONONOUS COMMUNITY
An Abia High Court sitting in Umuahia has removed the traditional ruler of Laguru Autonomous Community, HRH Eze (Prof.) C.A Ucheaga
According to the judgement delivered by justice Nwakanma, the sacked monarch was not from the zone that should produce the successor to Late Eze Godwin Onuoha, the Enyi 1 of Laguru Autonomous Community
The court held that the plaintiff had proved beyond reasonable doubts that the ascension to the throne of Enyi of Laguru was by rotation and that it was the turn of Azuemume zone to produce the successor to Late Eze Enyioha
Sequel to the presentation of staff of office to HRH Eze Ucheaga in 2019, Chief Anozie one of the aggrieved factional Ezes elect had filed a suit, praying the court to hold that ascension to the throne of Enyi of Laguru community was by rotation. He argued the court to declare that Azuemume should present the candidate for the throne after the demise of Late Eze Enyioha
The claimant had also prayed the court to set aside the staff of office given to the defendant by the governor as well as refrain him parading himself as the Enyi 1 of Laguru Autonomous Community.
Meanwhile it was gathered that the sacked monarch had directed his lawyer to appeal the judgement. According to him he remained the traditional ruler of the community until the appeal court says otherwise.
