WHEN MGBARAKUMA STOOD STILL FOR HRH EZE EBERE UBANI


Mgbarakuma community was agog on 29th December, 2022  with the celebration of Akuma Ukwu Day and Conferment of Chieftaincy Titles and Awards in Honour of HRH Eze Ebere Ubani, the Akuma Ukwu II of Mgbarakuma.


The event was held at Eke Mgbarakuma and had in attendance  sons and daughters of Mgbarakuma at home and in Diaspora,  who turned out in their numbers to celebrate with HRH Eze Ebere Ubani,



At the epoch making event were the President General of Mgbarakuma Development Union (F) Mr. Columba Nduaguibe, his vice, Chief Samuel Ukandu, the Secretary General, Eziinwa Umesi, Chief Rollins Iroakazi, Elder (Engr) Stanley Uche, Chief Ugochukwu Asonye, Chief Daniel Anozie, Chief Obinna Chikezie, Chief Solomon Ukandu, Chief Monday Iroegbu, Elder Mathew Ekwomadu, Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu, Chief Livinus Irokwe, Hon. Benjamin Iroakazi among others


It was not an all Mgbarakuma affairs as crème de la cream from within and outside Mgbarakuma, as well as friends and well wishers thronged the venue to witness the celebration.

It equally attracted heavy presence of traditional rulers, who trooped out to show solidarity with HRH Eze Ebere Ubani.

The event was colourful and entertaining. It  witnessed displays from cultural troupes that thrilled the large crowd that gathered to witness the occasion. Mgbarakuma women were not left out as they showcased their dancing skills to the admiration of those present.


In his address the President General of Mgbarakuma Development Union (f), Mr Culumba Nduaguibe said that Akuma Ukwu Day was the revived version of the now rested Abunkwu Mgbarakuma Day. He stated that the Abunkwu Magbarakuma Day, which used to hold every four years was last held in 1994, "and that this year's celebration will herald a move to enshrine Akuma Ukwu Day to being an annual event for our people"

He described HRH as the best thing that has happened to Ndi Mgbarakuma, noting that since his installation, Mgbarakuma community has been the envy of other communities in Abia State.




The peak of the occasion was when HRH conferred chieftaincy titles and awards on his deserving subjects, as well as  friends of the community. Among those conferred with chieftaincy titles was Chief Isikaku Emmanuel  Chinwendu.



Those given awards include Chief Uche Stanley, Chief Ugochukwu Harrison Asonye, Bar. Chris Ekwomadu, Elder Matthew Ekwomadu, Chinoye Chioma among others.


It was eventful day as Chief Isikaku Chinwendu, one of those conferred with chieftaincy title testified that that he was over whelmed. He said he would forever remain grateful to people who out of love honoured him during his conferment with chieftaincy title by HRH Eze Ebere Ubani. He appreciated all and sundry that came and wished them journey mercies to their different destinations.


HRH Eze Ebere Ubani was elected and installed the Akuma Ukwu III of Mgbarakuma Autonomous Community on 2nd April, 2021. He was given staff of office by the Abia State Government  on 1st September, 2022 and was coronated the Akuma Ukwu III of Mgbarakuma Autonomous Community  some weeks later.



Since his installation as the Akuma Ukwu III by the elders of Mgbarakuma Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Ubani has endeared himself to the heart of Mgbarakuma people with his style of leadership. He has succeeded to some extent in instilling discipline  on the recalcitrant Mgbarakuma youths who used to abuse and fight their parents at will and also checkmating the activities of the hoodlums, drug peddlers and other criminal elements in the community

Due to his zero tolerance for crime, he was made the chairman of Ubakala security committee by U.I.U (f) and he has so far done marvellously well in crime prevention and control in Ubakala

Ubakala scope News congratulate the President General of Mgbarakuma Development Union (F) Mr Culumba Nduaguibe  and his executive on the  successful hosting of Akuma Ukwu Day,  held on 29th December, 2022.  Those present agreed that it was a very good outing.
