NSUKWE COMMUNITY IN LAGOS IS NOW UNITED UNDER ONE UMBRELLA--UTORJI

The President of Nsukwe Development Union, Lagos Mr. Christopher Utorji has stated that peace has returned to Nsukwe community in Lagos as the two warring groups are now reunited under one umbrella and embraced peace.

Mr Utorji, who stated this in an interview with  Ubscope said that although some people are still opposing the peace initiative but efforts are being made to pacify them and bring them on board.

Speaking on the efforts he had personally made on this, he said that he had contacted members of this group one on one through phone calls and visitations. where he tried to make them see reason for the peaceful resolution of the matter and the need to embrace peace and unity for the sake of development at home. He noted that there is no alternative to peace and unity, that in an atmosphere of rancour and bitterness nobody is a winner, adding that the much needed development at home cannot be achieved by a divided house.

He disclosed that in his quest to achieve peace and unity, he had knelt before Patron Richard Onyekwere, in his house pleading for forgiveness of any wrong Nsukwe might have done him. He noted with regret that some elders have abandoned their responsibilities to the younger ones, arguing that it is the elders who should be correcting the younger ones when they are failing in their duties and not the other way round. He therefore enjoyed all of them in this group to shield their swords and team up with the rest to build a virile community the Nsukwe people will be proud of

" Whatever grievances any one is holding against Nsukwe, I plead that for the overall interest of the community, we must all come together and build it to its enviable height"

It would be recalled that the peace initiative that brought about peace and unity among Nsukwe people in Lagos was brought to bear by Ubakala Improvement Union, Lagos in 2021.

However, a group in Nsukwe Isielu Development Union in Lagos led by Patron Richard Onyekwere, a Patron representing Nsukwe in Ubakala and Umuahia and Mr Chinedu Dick, a former president Nsukwe Isielu Development Union, Lagos had boycotted the initiative.

Mr Dick in an interview with UbscopeNews vowed that he never be part of Nsukwe Development Union now or in future.
