LAGURU EZESHIP TUSSLE: ANXIETY AS COURT DETERMINES HRH EZE (PROF.) UCHEAGA'S FATE

  A High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State has fixed 9th March, 2023 for the judgement of the case between Chief Brown Ngaddi Anozie and HRH Eze (Professor) C.A  Ucheaga on the choice of Prof. Ucheaga as the traditional ruler of Laguru Autonomous Community. Recall that on 17th June, 2021, the Executive  Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu  presented the Staff of Office to HRH Eze (Prof.) Ucheaga, bringing to an  end  every dispute pertaining to the selection process. Chief Brown Ngaddi Anozie, an aggrieved factional Eze-elect has approached the court in Umuahia, seeking an order of the court to compel the Governor of Abia State to withdraw the staff of office earlier presented to HRH Eze C.A Ucheaga. He also wants the court to direct the governor to present the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to him, having come from the zone whose turn it is to produce the next Eze to succeed HRH Late Eze Godwin Onuoha, the Enyi I of Laguru. NO MORE WAR: IPUPE COMMUNITY EMBRACES PEACE

There seems to be  light at the end of the tunnel regarding the lingering crisis that has bedeviled the ipupe community over the sixty million naira paid to the community by the National Integrated Power Project as compensation to relocate the community's shrine in order to pave way for the power project which passed through the community. The crisis, which has lasted for over twelve years  and characterized by litigations, had led to the conviction of HRH Eze Bob Chima Ubiaru, the Aji Ukwu I of Ipupe Autonomous Community by both High Court of Abia State and Court of Appeal, Owerri Even on the death of HRH, the crisis  has persisted as both proponents  and opponents of HRH have disintegrated the leadership  of the community into two factions, each claiming to be the authentic one. WHY NSUKWE ISI-ELU'S REQUEST FOR AUTONOMY WAS NOT GRANTED BY ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT

As Nsukwe Nkpuke also referred to as Nsukwe Amano  finally  reunited with the main stream Nsukwe  community, after their failed attempt to break away  and form their own  autonomous community, facts  have emerged why the autonomous status they seek from Abia State Government was not granted. It will be recalled that before the coronation of HRH Eze S.I  Anyanwoko as the Isiala I of Nsukwe Autonomous Community,  conflict ensued between Nsukwe Amano block and HRH, leading to the former pulling away and leaving only Nsukwe Amaise block to participate in the coronation of  HRH. They further went ahead to form Nsukwe Isi-elu Autonomous Community, elect  their own traditional ruler and apply for recognition as an autonomous community from state government They also applied for the recognition of their union, Nsukwe Isi-elu Development Association from Ubakala Improvement Union.
